A Legend Island

Our trip was supposed to be by plane from Chicago to Honolulu, the capital of the Hawaiian Islands. We were very excited when were landing in Honolulu. We stayed in a rosy hotel in Honolulu, which was very close to the beach. However, our destination was Molokini and the following day we drove to the wharf that we needed to start our cruise and then snorkeling. It was not from the center and soon we reached it. That day was perfect – the sun was shining and no wind at all – in the proper sense of the word, it was a paradise. When we arrived at the pier, we were greatly surprised by the number of boats ready to take visitors on board. One of them was thought to be ours. We settled on the deck of our boat and went off to our wished island. Far away a crescent land turned up before our eyes. It was a volcano crater that beautifully had occupied the room in the ocean in 2,5 miles from Makea State Park. It took us only half an hour to get there by a boat. Our sporting place was located on the beach of Malokini. Instructors were very helpful and social. My imagination was fully satisfied – I was in the ocean and ready to snorkel. While being on board the boat, we were told an amazing legend about the island. Long ago there was a beautiful girl, called Malokini, who had fallen in love with a young guy. However she had a rival, which also loved that man and, besides, she was very jealous. She killed Malokini and people could see the mountain as if it had been the head of the girl. It’s a very romantic and heart-piercing story.
